Have you ever read a book and been so captivated by the story that you wished you could visit the location in person? From fictitious towns to real-world locations, these are some of the most incredible book locations that you’ll want to visit.
It’s no secret that books can transport us to amazing places. We can be anyone, go anywhere, and experience anything we want by simply opening a book.
Once you’ve gotten lost in the pages of a good book, the next natural step is to start thinking about where the story might have taken place. Wouldn’t it be amazing to visit some of the most famous locations from your favorite books?
This list features the places I would love to visit and why. Including real-world locations that are mentioned in novels, as well as fictional places I wish were real.
It features some locations from books you may have read and others you may not have, but all should evoke a sense of wonder and excitement.

Edinburgh, Scotland – Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon
Are you a fan of the hit series ‘Outlander‘? Then Edinburgh is the perfect place for you! Now a popular tourist destination. Visitors can tour the highlands, visit Craigh na Dun (the standing stones from the series), and much more.

Fictional Book Locations I Wish Were Real
Here are three of my favorite fantasy book locations that I’d love to visit, if only they were real.
Hogwarts
Of all the fictional book settings that I’d love to visit, Hogwarts is at the top of my list. The castle’s many hallways are filled with life-like staircases, moving paintings, talking portraits, secret passageways, and hidden alcoves.
I’d love to visit Hogwarts as a student going to classes with other witches and wizards my age, taking care of magical creatures, and playing quidditch. I’d also love to visit the castle as an adult working for the Ministry of Magic or helping out with house-elves at Hogwarts’ onsite cafe, The Three Broomsticks.
Middle Earth
I’ve always been a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy books, and I’d love to visit Middle Earth too!
Tolkien’s stories are filled with Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, and wizards. The books also take place during a time when humans are still new to the land of Middle Earth.
Narnia
In The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, children find their way into the land of Narnia through a wardrobe. Once they’re in, each season lasts for years and time passes differently than it does in our world.
Narnia is incredibly beautiful with snowcapped forests that are home to talking animals.
If I had the chance to visit Narnia, I would want to experience it as one of its characters. I’d love to be adventurous like Edmund or brave like Peter.
